The AIS is a regional multistakeholder ICT conference that brings together participants to share their Internet-related knowledge specific to the African region. Over 500 participants from 63 economies attended over the two weeks.
The program included a mix of seminars, workshops, tutorials and conference sessions, including a session on the resilience and stability of the IANA functions and the accountability mechanisms that should be established.
There was a lot of discussion around the policy proposals during the event, with much of it focused on AFPUB-2013-GEN-001-DRAFT-03 Academic IPv4 Allocation. This proposal details the criteria and justification that a higher education institution should provide to AFRINIC when requesting IPv4 space.
