ICT for improved management of water resources in vulnerable rural communities in Nicaragua

The project sough to escalate the Willay Program implemented by ONGAWA in Peru (FRIDA Award Recipient) about the use of ICTs in the mangagement of basic social services in empoverished rural communities and apply it to the context of Nicaragua. The Willay Program implemented information systems in rural Peru as a tool to improve decision-making and democratic gobernability. This model was applied in rural communities in Nicaragua in partnership with the local organization La Cuculmeca, this time around, for the management of water resources. The project sought to improve the mangement of water resources and promote the Human Right to Water and Sanitation by working with communitary committees and local authorities.

This project received a Scale-up Grant.
