SIATA –Early Warning System for Medellín and the Aburrá Valley- is a research and technological innovation project aimed at mitigating the risks associated with natural disasters, sustainability and smart cities in the Aburrá Valley in Colombia. It constitutes one of the main risk management programs in the region and a unique project in Colombia. SIATA seeks to alert local populations about the possible occurrence of natural disasters, reducing thusly the impact of these phenomena through prevention and early response. SIATA also monitors water sources and regional weather variations, generating data for environmental management.
