Replacing HSMs with threshold cryptography based software

NIC LABS - Universidad de Chile

The project seeks to offer an alternative, less costly tool for the safe storage of information. In order to implement data security technologies, an organization that handles confidential data has to resort to the use of cryptographic keys. The most widely used technology to store keys securely is HSM, which can be very costly for non-for-profit organizations or small and medium enterprises. NIC LABS will be developing an alternative to HMS using Threshold Cryptography. This development will be open source and will allow small and medium institutions to store confidential data with a low cost encryption and storage system,
