The NatiV Project is aimed at creating mother-tongue learning applications on low-cost tablets for children aged 3 to 7. The apps are also made with consideration for children with learning disabilities like dyslexia. In 2016, NatiV scaled out their objectives to not only cater for local language learning, but general foundation learning for early childhood development (ECD), introducing apps that teach foundation mathematics, colours, fruits, animals, and even science. The apps are engaging, intuitive and fun to use. The introduction of the other modules besides language learning came as a result of the feedback given by children’s guardians during our 2015 sustainability experiment – a pre-school named St. Tropez, where we reached a data-driven conclusion that NatiV’s value propositions increased significantly when used inclusively as part of an ECD curriculum.
